Le Rucher du Trenze: Creation of an Online Store

Le Rucher du Trenze is a beekeeping business located in the Cévennes National Park. Working with them gave me the opportunity to put into practice the web development skills I acquired during my CNEA Professional Bachelor’s degree and my development internship with the Mont-Lozère Community of Municipalities.
About Le Rucher du Trenze
A honey farm in the heart of the Cévennes
The “Le Rucher du Trenze” honey farm is located in the Cévennes National Park, on the southern slopes of Mont-Lozère. Thanks to its exceptional environment and geographical location, high-quality honeys are produced by bees that thrive in a rich, diverse, and protected natural setting.
Conventional Transhumant Beekeeping
Le Rucher du Trenze practices conventional transhumant beekeeping, which allows for a wider range of honeys: chestnut honey, acacia honey, honey from the flowers of the Cévennes valleys, and heather honey from Mont-Lozère. In addition to honey, Le Rucher du Trenze produces propolis, propomiel, and a lip balm of exceptional quality.
The Online Store Project
Context and Objectives
A few months after completing my CNEA Professional Bachelor’s degree, I was contacted by Rucher du Trenze to create an online store. The goal was to grow their business by showcasing their products and allowing customers to order directly through an online store. To actively contribute to the preservation of bees—which are essential for pollination and biodiversity—Rucher du Trenze wanted to incorporate a sponsorship program. This program allows customers to sponsor a hive for a minimum of one year, thereby helping to ensure the survival of bees threatened by pesticides, parasites, viruses, and the Asian hornet. By becoming a sponsor, participants receive personalized jars of honey, a sponsorship certificate, and regular updates on the life of their hive. This project also supports local economic activity and raises consumer awareness of the importance of bees in our ecosystem.
Development of the Online Store
To meet the needs of Rucher du Trenze, I developed an online store with several key features:
- Online Store: An intuitive interface allowing customers to browse and purchase products.
- Blog Section: A dedicated space to publish articles regularly to improve the site’s online presence and search engine optimization.
- Order Management: An order management system to facilitate tracking and delivery of products.
- Sponsorship System: A system integrated into the online store, allowing customers to sponsor a beehive directly from the shopping interface. When purchasing a sponsorship, the buyer is automatically added to a list of sponsors and enjoys associated benefits, such as personalized jars of honey, a sponsorship certificate, and regular updates on the life of their beehive.
Challenges Encountered
Managing Technical Constraints
While developing the online store, I encountered several technical challenges, including managing online payments, data security, and creating a sponsorship system.
Adapting to Client Needs
It was essential to understand the specific needs of Rucher du Trenze and translate them into concrete features on the online store. This required constant communication and close collaboration with the client.
Results Achieved
Le Rucher du Trenze is very satisfied with the online store we developed. The online store has helped expand its customer base and streamline order management.
Conclusion
The Rucher du Trenze project was a rewarding experience that allowed me to put my web development and SEO optimization skills into practice. Creating this e-commerce site not only helped Rucher du Trenze grow its business but also allowed me to gain new knowledge and skills. If you’d like to learn more about this project or discuss a collaboration, please feel free to contact me. I’d be delighted to work with you on your online store project.
